Welcome to my Blog!

And My New Home!

Now that I live in the Niagara region I have embraced the Ontario wine industry and all it has to offer.

One of the main reasons I’m starting this Blog is because my husband and I started leaving in Beamsville for about 6 months when all hell broke loose and the world as we knew it was halted by the pandemic.

I decided to take a course on Blogging and Podcasting and this is the result of that course.  I had so much fun exploring the Niagara Wine region and all it had to offer.  

Things have changed since I started this site 4 years ago but my love of wine has not changed.  I ended up retiring from a 35 year career at Air Canada and deciding to go to Niagara College to be a wine and viticulture technician.  It was a difficult 2 years but also so amazing as I learned about wine not only from a sensory perspective but also from a scientific perspective.  I worked my ass off, had a great time, made so many amazing friends and learned about wine and grapes from a total different focal point. 

I am now pretending to be retired but also working as a cellar hand at Niagara Custom Crush. My first harvest was such hard work but also so much fun. I look back now and I can’t believe that 4 of us were able to process over 400 tonnes of grapes!!

I am still getting to know this amazing area so now we(as in You and I) are going to do it together with this Blog. 

And…..I hope you don’t mind if I add a story or 2 about people, places and things I’ve discovered in my travels as a Flight Attendant. Discussing and learning about Ontario wine can’t be done in a bubble and if we explore the world around us, we can also have a clearer understanding of our local industry. Plus I just would love to

share what I’ve discovered along the way.

And this concept of mine wouldn’t work unless I had your input. I want this blog to be totally interactive. I want your thoughts, comment and suggestions of places that should be included. As I mentioned I’ve only lived here for just over a year so this is my way to educate myself with your help.

So PLEASE come sit on my bench cuz I truly believe we have a lot to learn from each other.
